How to repair the ignition coil
The role of the ignition coil is to convert the low-voltage electricity generated by the battery or generator to high voltage, which causes a strong spark to the spark plug electrode, thereby igniting the air-fuel mixture in the cylinder. When the ignition coil has an open circuit or short circuit, the following methods can be used for inspection and repair. The maintenance of the low-voltage coil generally uses a 6-volt battery as the power supply, and a 30-ampere ammeter is connected to test whether the low-voltage coil is open circuited or short-circuited. When the coil low-voltage circuit is energized, the current should be 8 ~ 10A, if the current is too large, indicating a short circuit between the windings; if no current, indicating that the circuit is broken. Open circuit or short circuit, generally occurs outside the lead-out line or lead-out line segment. When repairing, lead wires should be replaced and rewelded, but not allowed to be broken. Before welding, wipe off the insulating lacquer on the surface of the enameled wire to be welded with fine sandpaper. Then use a small power soldering iron of about 25 watts to hot the solder. The soldering iron only needs to be heated slightly, and the soldering iron should be lifted immediately after the two weldments are connected. After welding, in order not to break the enameled wire by pulling the lead wire, it is necessary to use a string to secure the lead wire, then wrap the yellow wax cloth and dry it, and then seal it with insulating paint or epoxy resin adhesive. Maintenance of high voltage coil commonly used multimeter to check the high voltage coil, the multimeter dial R10 file, the two table pens were connected to the high and low voltage side of the ignition coil, the resistance value should be about 5000 ohms. If the resistance value is very small, it indicates the short circuit between the turns. If the resistance is infinite, it indicates that the coil is open circuited. When the high-voltage coil is open circuited, high-voltage power can pass through the circuit breaker. However, after a long period of work, the circuit breaker is subjected to multiple electrical erosions, and it gradually expands and causes failure. Therefore, when the high-voltage coil is found to be open circuit, another intact ignition coil is required to be used for the high-voltage discharge inspection, so that the charged high-voltage line and the output end of the high-voltage coil to be inspected are suspended. If there is no spark, it means that the high-voltage coil is severely disconnected and cannot be used continuously; if the current and resistance of the low-voltage coil are normal, and the output of the high-voltage electric is weak, the coil is often damped and internal leakage occurs, and inspection should be made after drying. When the high-voltage coil is open circuited, the outer insulator should be stripped, the lead wire removed, and it should be removed until it breaks. If the broken end is close to the appearance and there are not many lead wires removed, the lead wire can be reconnected and reused. If the breakage is close to the interior, it should be replaced.
