You can optimize your brain for $30,000. Is this bio-hacking therapy you willing to try?

Sometimes relying on Zoloft (an antidepressant) is not enough to mobilize your brain and make your brain active. There is a scientific field that is developing at a rapid pace, and now efforts are being made to reconnect human brain waves and eventually launch bio-hacking therapies.

"Our research in psychiatry has encountered problems because we have neglected autonomic and neurophysiological issues," said psychiatrist Hasan Asif, who is also a co-founder of Field. “To really evaluate a customer, you need to go from top to bottom, head to toe, and evaluate from all angles, such as neurochemistry, neurophysiology, and biochemistry.”

Field is both a laboratory clinic and a clinician's office. It forms a team of scientists, doctors and life coaches to serve its 1% of its clients.

They will study your mental history and emotional health while analyzing your biofeedback, such as brain waves, skin conduction, respiration, heart rate changes, and neurophysiology. Yes, they will use electrodes to attach to your head, because the company's mission is to monitor and change the synchronization of brain energy waves.

The team is committed to helping customers move toward a range of goals: increasing creativity, reducing stress, increasing awareness, and improving athletic performance. It has been reported that the company's treatment methods can even increase the sexual impulses of customers.

Asif explains that this principle is based on the premise that any given mental state or self state depends on a potential autonomous system. This is the same system that when your heart beats faster when you are excited or when your hands are sweating.

Although traditional psychiatric methods are useful, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, they are ultimately limited by the lack of complete physical data. Field's goal is to adjust the θ and β waves by computer modulation in different ways, just like controlling a switch.

“This is a combination of high technology and holistic approach.” Co-founder White explained: “We look at your brain, see where you need to adjust, raise things up, and turn things down.”

Biological hacking therapy costs are not low

Field's unorthodox bio-hacking therapy is available in just a few days, as well as a few months of regular appointments, as well as a popular seven-day retreat. This New York-based startup was founded six months ago. The company says its customers are top notch in the sports, finance, technology, legal and entertainment industries. These people have reached the peak of their careers to some extent, but they all have a common problem: How can I make my brain work better? This may mean running faster or thinking more relaxed, or basically means less distracting.

Of course, such a treatment is not cheap: a single treatment costs $1,100, and people usually need at least 20-30 treatments to see the effect.

Field has two offices, one near Bryant's Bryant Park and the other in the north of the city, in Bronxville, Westchester, where I go to give it a try. This is an ordinary beige building with an inconspicuous small office with sparse, uncoordinated medieval furniture and soft-toned carpets. There seems to be nothing that can really show off high-tech or luxury.

I stayed with White, and he is also the company's behavior design expert. Like the most original treatment appointments, White wants to know everything about you, including your childhood, relationships, career goals, vacation preferences, and even your life goals.

Do you know what you want?

Some questions are more difficult to answer than others, such as "Do you have a clear understanding of what you want? How do you know if you already have it?"

For these more challenging personal issues, White analyzes more than just your answers. He looks for physical and non-verbal cues, such as relaxing shoulders, slow breathing, or a slight sigh. These are in line with the psychological reaction of remembering good times. White says that your nervous system is usually more insightful than language.

Our goal is to always achieve this state and make major decisions only in this clear state. This is the goal that Field will help you achieve. But to do this, it needs to use some futuristic gadgets to track and manipulate your brain.

After an hour of conversation, I was sent to a laboratory where Dr. Asif and neuroscientist Aza Mantashashvili greeted me. I was placed on a lounge chair with an EEG cap on my head. They told me to analyze my brain activity. I have an electronic skin monitor on my finger to track the pressure.

They did some exercises to observe my reaction to stress, including playing a disturbingly fast-moving movie on the big screen in front of me, with rotten animals, creepy dolls and spiders.

"Obviously," I heard Asif shouting in the corner of the room. It turns out that my brainwaves are too active and explode quickly, which may help explain where my ongoing stress levels come from.

The more they tell me how my brain controls my personality and behavior, the more I feel that makes sense. This feeling is like listening to the fortune teller, but it doesn't feel like ignoring me.

Reconnected brain waves

Once the medical team has accumulated enough data, they will turn to techniques that can manipulate brain waves, including TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation), which emits directional magnetic pulses.

White explained: "We are observing the brain, seeing where it is now, we know where we want it to go, then we use a variety of treatments to drive it and train it to do it all the time." This is not a cure once and for all.

Neurostimulation has been used to treat depression and improve the performance of military and sports. More than 60 studies have shown a significant increase in speed and accuracy in a variety of tasks including perception, movement and execution. TMS has even been studied as a non-invasive technique to improve the memory of older people.

In my case, the magnetic pulse only acts on my right side, which causes my entire left body to twitch out of control. With enough of these stimuli, they promised me that my mind would calm down. They also told me that I will spend the whole afternoon like this, maybe my brain will go into deep sleep. But at that moment, it felt like someone was licking my head with a small hammer.

This highly personalized brain manipulation (plus traditional conversational therapy) requires in-depth, one-on-one attention. No treatment is available for everyone. Doctors must also carefully adjust the θ and β waves to allow the brain to respond accurately in the way customers demand.

White said: "You need to constantly monitor it to make sure it is moving in the direction that is most beneficial to the customer."

The Mayo Clinic believes that despite the potential side effects of TMS, it is still a "safe and well tolerated" treatment. Common side effects include headache, cramps and facial muscle twitching, and a few rare cases of epilepsy and hearing loss.

White warns: "The brain is very personal and unique to everyone, so you must be very careful to understand its response."

Control biological hacker wave

As expected, it is impossible to replicate this particular treatment for the public. Field counts some full-time staff and they are also busy researching best practices. White claims that the ultimate goal is to fine-tune the process to make it a customizable technology tool. Imagine wearing an artificial intelligence-driven helmet that analyzes and "repairs" the human brain. Of course, how to manipulate brain waves without medical supervision remains a major obstacle.

In the near future, Field plans to work with health clinics, sports centers or health spas to provide high-end customers with expensive services. The team plans to refine this approach over the next two years and turn it into a hands-on form so that it can be licensed in different industries. When the price is cheap enough, White hopes to apply to the Elderly Life Center or the Veterans Life Center.

“We are working hard to keep the price down,” White said. “This is a new technology, so we are a bit like the Tesla model.”

White said there is also a potential data game, and there is no doubt that this requires careful handling. For example, what if your "smart home" not only gives you the temperature you want, but also reacts to your brainwaves to keep you balanced?

“Data and information are the way forward for the world,” White stressed. "I saw everything on people's brains."

Although this seems a bit far-fetched, remember that just a few months ago, China also had the idea of monitoring the brainwaves of employees and military personnel. The world is moving in a personal direction – brain waves are probably one of the most personal data points that people can think of.

Greenhouse Sun-Shading System

Sun-Shading Net is a series of colored shade nets with special optical properties which improve the utilization of solar radiation by agricultural crops. This technology promotes differential stimulation of desirable physiological responses, which determine the commercial value of each crop. This is an economical and environmentally friendly alternative to current labor-consuming methods (such as pruning and thinning) and intensive use of growth regulators and other chemicals. ChromatiNet enables growers to control vegetative growth characteristics, such as leaf size, branch length and plant height in plants, as well as the rate of maturation and flowering. This enables adaptation to market preferences, with clear economic advantages.

Greenhouse Sun-Shading System can reduce solar load, and cool down the inside temperature and create a comfortable environment for the plants.
