Banana storage technology

Different varieties of bananas have different tolerances for storage, and the bananas of spring bud banana, short stem, and oil banana are resistant to storage. The bananas used for storage should be harvested at the maturity of July and August. The maturity is too high to be stored and transported, and the maturity is poor.
Suitable storage conditions for bananas are 11-13°C and relative humidity 90%-95%. Atmosphere storage of banana gas composition indicators are: oxygen is 2% to 8%, carbon dioxide is 2% to 5%. During the storage of bananas, the amount of ethylene released is large. Therefore, it is necessary to remove ethylene in time during storage to prevent self ripening.
1, refrigerated. The harvested bananas are stored in a cold storage, and the storage temperature is kept at 11-13°C during storage. When the temperature is lower than 10°C, bananas will suffer cold damage. Ventilation of the warehouse is often performed to prevent the accumulation of ethylene.
2, plastic film bags storage. Place the bananas in a plastic bag with a thickness of 0.08 mm. Each bag contains 10-15 kilograms of fruit. Add 200 grams of crushed bricks permeated with potassium permanganate solution and 100 grams of hydrated lime to tie the bag and store it in the bag. At 11~13°C, bananas were stored for 62 days by this method, and the banana fruit had good storage quality.
3, modified atmosphere storage. The air-conditioned storage of bananas has been successful, but the gas composition of different varieties or the same variety from different origins are different. Large plastic accounts can be used, closed, with carbon molecular sieve for gas composition adjustment; large gas storage can also be used to adjust the gas composition with combustion type gas conditioner or hollow fiber nitrogen generator.
