Navel Orange Spring Buds and Cutting Anvil Technology Summary

The grafting of citrus nurseries takes place mainly in the late summer and early autumn (late August-September). At this time, the seedlings planted in the year have reached the appropriate thickness, and the grafting survival rate is high, and the budding in late spring can germinate in time. Grafting in the spring is only an auxiliary method, and often used for grafting, but the operation is troublesome. The rootstock is more stout and the budding requires stricter environmental conditions. The springtime changing climate not only affects the grafting healing process, but also affects the anvil after cutting. In order to germinate buds, the author explored the technique of cutting anvil after budding at appropriate time in spring and found a simple, applicable and efficient method of cutting anvil. The summary is as follows:

1, materials and methods

The experiment was conducted at the nursery base of fruit trees. The selected seedlings were planted on the 3rd of April and budding without buds. The anvils were cut at both times on April 23 and May 7 respectively. Each time the anvil was used. 6 kinds of different cutting anvil methods, followed by: removing film + not cutting anvil; removing film + cutting anvil; removing film + bud on the wound; picking bud + not cutting anvil; picking buds + cutting anvil; pick Film buds + bud injury. When cutting the anvil, the rootstock is cut at about the top about 06; picking and placing buds is to use the knife tip to pick the film at the buds, so as to facilitate the sprouting and longevity but also to protect the buds less affected by the environment; The roots of the buds were transversely wounded at 06 to deepen the xylem, aiming to reduce the unpleasant stimuli caused by the one-off anvil butt joints. The anvil method was arranged in a randomized block arrangement with 30 strains per cell and 3 replicates. The survival rate was investigated immediately after the anvil was cut, and the survival rate and germination rate were investigated again on May 31st.

2, results and analysis

1 The effects of different cutting anvil time on the survival rate: There was no significant difference in the survival rate among the different anvil methods at the same anvil time, but the anvil time had a great influence on the survival rate. On April 23, the anvil increased the final survival rate more than the anvil on May 7. With the delay of the anvil time, the death rate of the anvil after grafting increased, and the average of the second anvil was about 20%. He died after cutting the anvil. The reason for this difference may be related to the higher temperature in May and the less rainfall. This kind of high-temperature drought causes some budding buds to die and dried, and the budding method will not protect the buds. .

2 The effects of different cutting anvil methods and cutting anvil time on germination: The highest germination rate was achieved by removing the cutting anvil and picking the shoots. The germination rate was the highest, all over 90%, extremely significantly higher than other methods, the other four The germination rate of the anvils was below 30%, and there was no significant difference between them. It is expected that the stock will be cut off once to promote sprouting, but the effect of injuring the bud is unexpected. From the observations, it was found that the use of incisional wounds did not prevent the growth of shoot buds on the shoots, which resulted in germination in the dominant position. In addition, it can be concluded that the same cutting anvil method was used at two times, and there was no significant difference in the effect of docking bud germination.

3, summary discussion

From the above analysis, it can be seen that spring budding can be used to remove the anvils directly at one time, not only does not affect the survival of grafting, but also has the advantages of early budding after budding, neat shoots, and high germination rate. In addition, the prerequisite for ensuring bud healing is the premise. Under the early cutting of the anvil, the survival rate can be guaranteed, and it is also favorable for sprouting buds. The anvil should avoid the high temperatures that often occur in May. Picking and cutting the anvil is also very good, but this method is extremely troublesome. Picking the shoots and injuring the buds can neither protect the buds from being air-dried, nor can they sprout buds.
