Beijing rice sample metal content is not exceeded

The recent news that rice in the field has exceeded the standard of heavy metals has aroused public concern about the safety of rice in the Beijing market. On the 26th, the Beijing Food Office notified that 102 samples of rice in the city were monitored through risks, including rice from 32 primary and secondary school canteens and students' nutritious meals. Heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, mercury, arsenic, and chromium were not exceeded.

The city's Food Office has joined the industry, commerce, and public health departments in the company to conduct heavy metal risk monitoring on Beijing rice around heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, mercury, arsenic, and chromium.

A total of 102 rice samples were collected in 16 districts and counties of the city, including rice produced by domestic companies, imported rice, and bulk rice sampled directly from the backyard and raw materials warehouses of 28 restaurants.

City Food Office introduced this time, it also specially selected 32 schools and students' nutritional rice processing companies to use rice. The final monitoring results showed that no heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, mercury, arsenic, and chromium were found in all rice samples.

The Municipal Food Office stated that rice as a basic food for the public has been the focus of Beijing monitoring for many years. "The items such as heavy metal and pesticide residues are required for inspection every year."

Zhang Fengping, deputy director of the city's food office, also pointed out that because Beijing is a very large consumer city, most of the food, including rice, is supplied by the outside market, and food safety risks throughout the country may be input with food logistics at any time.

“Although no problem was found in the heavy metal sampling of rice, we can't relax our risk monitoring.” Zhang Fengping said that last year Beijing signed a memorandum of cooperation with food safety cooperation with 8 provinces and cities in Heilongjiang Province, establishing cooperation in production and sales, encouraging Beijing's large-scale enterprises and markets have built their own bases or agreement bases, and Beijing shopping malls, supermarkets, restaurants, and group dining units have directly linked to the safe food bases in other cities in order to restrict market access.
